[Print-friendly version]

Many people move from rural or regional areas of Queensland or from interstate to study in Brisbane. Although moving away from your home, parents and friends can be daunting, the move will provide new experiences and broaden your career opportunities.

As a QUT student, you will have access to a range of support services to help you find your feet at university. You can also attend an orientation session for regional and interstate students, which provides a valuable opportunity to network and share information with other students and staff.

As a student who has relocated from a rural or regional area, you may be eligible to apply for a Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship. Each scholarship is valued at $4324 per year.

Getting started

Before you start studying at QUT, there are a number of steps you can take to ensure a stress-free move to Brisbane.

  1. See the campus first
  2. Find somewhere to live
  3. Find your way around

Take the opportunity to talk to real students from QUT. Our students are able to answer questions about general aspects of undergraduate student life. Email a student with your questions.

I receive financial assistance as I moved from a regional area. This has helped me lift the financial burden off myNick Kays family and without it I probably couldn't afford living away from home.
