Qualifications

[Print-friendly version]

Faculties may select courses for award with distinction in any associate degree, bachelor degree or graduate diploma at QUT, except those courses which are awarded with honours. For a double degree, awards with distinction are conferred for each of the eligible component degrees based on the same criteria as the award for the individual component degree.

Eligibility

Eligibility for awards with distinction is based on a graduand's grade point average. The grade point average (GPA) levels at which awards are given are:

  • 5.5 for undergraduate courses, and
  • 5.75 for postgraduate courses.

Eligibility for such awards is made without regard to the time taken for completion of a course. To be eligible for an award with distinction a graduand must however have completed the course within the maximum number of calendar years specified in the policy on time limits for completion of courses.

To be eligible for an award with distinction a graduand must have been enrolled in the course at QUT for at least one year of full-time study or its equivalent, or at least one semester of full-time study or its equivalent in the case of one-year graduate diploma courses. For courses commenced in 2002 or later, graduands must have completed at least 50% of the total credit points required for the course at QUT.

Please refer to the faculty tables or contact your relevant faculty to determine if you are eligible for an award with distinction.
