When and where are overseas ceremonies held?

Overseas ceremonies are usually held in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan at established venues. Details of our upcoming overseas ceremonies are in the graduation timetable.

Will there be a reception after my ceremony?

Overseas ceremonies are followed by receptions, which give graduands a chance to celebrate their achievements with their guests, QUT staff and VIPs.

How much do tickets cost?

This depends on the ceremony venue, and the number of students attending. We try to keep ticket prices to a minimum, and subsidise them when possible.

How do I hire academic regalia?

Overseas regalia hire companies are appointed to provide graduands with QUT regalia. Information on regalia hire for specific countries is included in overseas ceremony invitations.

Can international students attend an overseas ceremony as well as a local ceremony?

Yes. International students may attend an overseas ceremony as well as a local ceremony by submitting separate response forms for each of these ceremonies.

If I wish to attend an overseas ceremony, should I respond to my local ceremony invitation?

Yes, you should indicate if you do/do not wish to attend your Brisbane ceremony via your online Brisbane graduation invitation to ensure you receive your parchment as soon as possible.

How do I get my graduation parchment if I do not wish to attend an overseas or local ceremony?

If you do not wish to attend either your local or overseas graduation ceremonies, you must respond to your online Brisbane graduation invitation via QUT Virtual to have your graduation parchment mailed to you after your Brisbane ceremony.

Can domestic students graduate at an overseas ceremony?

Overseas ceremonies are primarily for international students and numbers may be limited, but every effort will be made to accommodate domestic students who contact the Ceremonies Section at least one month before the overseas ceremony.
