Pre-2008

QUT will enrol students as eligible students for pre-2008 student provisions provided they meet the conditions specified under the Higher Education Legislation Amendment (2007 Budget Measures) Act 2007. These transitional arrangements relating to pre-2008 students end on 31 December 2012.

Students who prior to 2008 studied at a higher education provider other than QUT and who enrol at QUT after 1 January 2008 and who wish to be considered an eligible student must complete an application form and provide certain evidence prior to the census date of the relevant study period at QUT. Evidence must include contribution to the previous course as a Commonwealth supported student and non-completion of the course requirements. Eligibility cannot be granted retrospectively for a study period, that is, after the census date of the relevant study period.

Pre-2005

QUT will enrol students as eligible students for pre-2005 student provisions provided they meet the conditions specified under the Higher Education Support (Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Act 2003.

These transitional arrangements will remain in place for eligible students up to and including 31 December 2008 or until the completion of the course, whichever occurs earlier. From 2009 all students will be subject to the 2005 arrangements, regardless of whether or not they have completed their course.

Students who prior to 2005 studied at a higher education provider other than QUT and who enrol at QUT after 1 January 2005 and who wish to be considered an eligible student, must complete an application form and provide certain evidence prior to the census date of the relevant study period at QUT. Evidence must include contribution to the previous course as a HECS or PELS student and non-completion of the course requirements. Eligibility cannot be granted retrospectively for a study period, that is, after the census date of the relevant study period. Consideration of the enrolment practices of the higher education provider may be relevant to the decision on eligibility.

Applying for eligibility

QUT will use available information to make an initial assessment of whether students are eligible students for pre-2005/2008 provisions. Should you not be satisfied with this initial assessment you should complete an application form (HECS or PELS). Please ensure you read all relevant information, including the definition of an eligible student, before completing and submitting the application form (HECS or PELS).
