QUT will process the full amount of your payment against the fee types listed on your current Statement of Account only if there is no debt outstanding from earlier semesters.

If you have an outstanding debt from a previous semester, any money you pay to QUT will initially be applied to that outstanding debt. This means that you may not be paying for the fee you think you are. Make sure you are aware of your outstanding balance to avoid late fees.

It is recommended that you pay the full amount on your Statement of Account by the due date each semester. Note that any changes to your enrolment within three days prior to the issue of the Statement of Account will not be reflected on your current Statement. A revised Statement of Account is normally issued if the change in enrolment results in a change in the amount you have to pay.

If you underpay your Statement of Account, your payment will be applied initially to your previous debt (if appropriate) and then to your student contribution and/or tuition fees.

If you pay by telegraphic transfer, you must ensure that you include any bank transaction charges. Failure to do so will result in tuition fees not being paid in full.

Incurring financial liability

International students

Most international students are financially liable, in full, for any unit(s) in which they were enrolled from the 29th day onward after the start of classes.

For students enrolled in GS85, GS86 and GS87 and the Summer Program, you are financially liable, in full,
for any unit(s) in which you are enrolled from the 14th day onward after the start of classes.

Please remember that Overseas Student Health Cover is a condition of your student visa. If your health cover is due to expire before your visa expires, contact your OSHC provider to renew your cover.

What if I withdraw from units or the course? Go to the International Student Fee and Refund Policy.

Domestic students

Students are financially liable for any unit(s) in which they were enrolled at the census date of that teaching period. In addition, tuition fee paying students normally incur partial financial liability earlier in the semester. Please refer to QUT's Student Rules. Different rules apply for enrolments in the Summer Program and non-standard semesters.
