QUT has a number of payment methods to pay fees. Fees must be paid by the due date on your Statement of Account. QUT will apply penalties if fees are not paid on time.

Steps to follow

Step 1. Check your Outstanding Balance in QUT Virtual. From the Student Services tab, find the Student Fees portlet. Click on the link View your outstanding balance.

Step 2. Print out your Statement of Account also found in the Student Fees portlet. Click on the link View your statement of account.

Ways to pay - domestic students

Choose from one of these preferred methods to pay your fees:

Australia Post office

You need:

  • cash or cheque
  • your Statement of Account.

Pay-by-phone (PBP)

You need:

  • PBP telephone number – 1300 300 072
  • a Mastercard, Visa or American Express
  • your 8-digit student identification number (put a 0 in front to make 8 digits)
  • your Pay Advice Number. Find this under your student number on your Statement of Account. Enter the Pay Advice Number as 6 digits.

BPay

You need:

  • an internet or phone banking facility with your bank
  • a reference number which is your 7-digit student number
  • the QUT Biller code - 292599. You can find this on the bottom right-hand corner of your Statement of Account. Enter as 6 digits.

QUT's Internet credit card facility

  • log into QUT Virtual. In the Student Services tab find the Student Fees box. Use the link Pay your fees by credit card.

QUT cashiers

WARNING: You will experience long delays (>1 hour) at the QUT cashier during peak periods such as the beginning of semester. We encourage you to select one of the other payment options listed above to avoid this delay.

You need to:

  • bring no more than $500 in cash at one time. QUT Cashiers will not accept cash payments over $500 at a time.

Mail your payment

Only cheques, bank drafts and Postal Orders will be accepted by mail.

If you mail your payment, you must ensure that you allow sufficient time for the payment to reach QUT by the due date. QUT will not be responsible for the security of any payment sent by mail or for any delays in posting. Payments mailed to QUT on the due date or census date will not be considered as they reach QUT after the due date.

If you send a personal cheque to QUT, you must ensure that you have sufficient funds to cover the amount. Dishonoured cheques will attract a $20 penalty fee.

Payments can be mailed to GPO Box 2434, Brisbane Qld 4001.

Ways to pay - international students

International students must pay a semester's tuition fee in advance to accept an offer. You can do this by using one of the methods below:

Credit Card
You need:

Bank draft
You need to:

  • make sure the bank draft is in Australian dollars
  • make it payable to Queensland University of Technology
  • draw the bank draft from a major international bank. Check the list of banks with which QUT has a banking relationship.
  • write your name, QUT student number (if known) and the course you intend to study on the back of the bank draft.

Telegraphic transfer
You need to:

Note that your bank may charge a fee for the telegraphic transfer service.

QUT cannot accept personal cheques. You should also check with your local bank to see if your government places any restrictions on transferring funds for payment of tuition fees to Australia. If you have any difficulties in making your first payment to QUT, please contact Student Business Services.

From Semester 2 onwards you must use one of the standard QUT payment methods (see above).

Proof of Payment/Statement of Account

Please keep any receipts, receipt numbers and your Statement of Account in a safe place as your proof of payment.

Formal receipt for reimbursement purposes

If you require a formal receipt please

  • log into QUT Virtual. In the Student Services tab find the Student Fees box. Use the link Payment History. for access to a printable list of each payment you have made to QUT including the receipt number and type of payment. This should be suitable for most requirements.
