Commonwealth supported placeIf you are a New Zealand citizen or the holder of an Australian Permanent Resident visa (other than a permanent humanitarian visa), and have been offered a Commonwealth supported place, you are generally not eligible for HECS-HELP. This means you are required to pay your student contribution amount up-front, in full, to QUT on or before the census date of the relevant teaching period. You cannot defer your student contribution amount. New Zealand citizens and holders of Australian Permanent Resident Visas are not eligible for Commonwealth supported places if they reside outside Australia for the teaching period for a reason other than a requirement of the course. Note: Holders of permanent humanitarian visas, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens will be requested to provide QUT with documentation, such as their permanent visa, prior to the census date of the first teaching period of enrolment to demonstrate their eligibility for a Commonwealth supported place. For more information regarding Commonwealth Assistance please visit the goingtouni website. Exception for pre-2005 HECS studentsThe only exception is if you have been identified as a pre-2005 HECS student. However, pre-2005 students who fall into one of the categories below are required to pay HECS up-front without the 20% discount and cannot select the HELP loan option:
Domestic tuition fee paying placeIf you are a New Zealand citizen and/or holder of an Australian Permanent Resident visa (other than a permanent humanitarian visa) and you have been offered a domestic tuition fee paying place, you are required to pay your tuition fees up-front by the due date to QUT.
