Commonwealth supported students

The cost of your units is based on the field of education classification of each unit of study. Units are grouped on the basis of their field of education into four bands. QUT sets a student contribution rate for each of the four bands.

You will find the student contribution rates in the Student Contribution Bands table, with the dollar amount shown representing the rate for one equivalent full-time student load (EFTSL) or 96 credit points of study, if all units were taken from that band.

Your actual student contribution amount for any teaching period will be the total of the individual student contribution amounts for each unit you study.

Most students will pay the highest yearly rate and can view the alphabetical list of units to find the actual contribution cost for each unit being studied.

Pre-1997, pre-2005 or pre-2008 students can calculate the actual contribution cost for their units using the calculation table.

Domestic tuition fee-paying students

Tuition fee rates are expressed by QUT as a cost per credit point. The cost for courses is set at course level so you pay one simple rate for all units of study you undertake while in the course.

Your actual tuition cost for any teaching period will be the total number of credit points being studied in the teaching period multiplied by the tuition rate per credit point for your course.

Refer to the Domestic Postgraduate Tuition Fees table or the Domestic Undergraduate Full Fee table or the Domestic Undergraduate Non-award Tuition Fee table for the cost per credit point of units in your course.

Refer to your course summary sheet to check the credit point value for your units.

Units undertaken will be charged at the cost per credit point for the year in which they are studied, regardless of the year in which students commence their studies.

Students undertaking a unit/s as a visiting student should refer to the Visiting Student Tuition Fee table for the cost per credit point for their unit.

No new offers

From mid-2008 QUT will not be offering domestic undergraduate full fee places to commencing students.

Summer Program

Students undertaking a unit during the Summer Program should refer to the Summer Program Fee table to determine the appropriate fee rate for the unit.

You can view detailed information about Summer unit availability at the QUT courses webpage. To search, select the calendar option you want, then select a unit code.

Unit cancellation charges

If you decide to cancel your studies at QUT and/or withdraw from your unit/s, you should be aware that cancellation or withdrawal from units outside the dates specified in the Late cancellation charges table will attract cancellation charges.

You need to pay particular attention to the census date for your unit. After the census date, you will be financially liable for the unit/s you are undertaking, regardless of whether or not you complete the units.

The census date for your unit is dependent upon the teaching period in which you are studying the unit. Refer to the Census dates table for the census dates for each teaching period in each year.
