Get the right connections with business and industry – QUT knows what employers want and has strong links with industry.

QUT's Career Mentor Scheme can link you with an industry professional to give you a real taste of workplace culture and the challenges of your chosen profession. Since 2002 this scheme has matched hundreds of students and mentors from across the disciplines.

Students are insured for unpaid, career-related work throughout their degree under the Work Ready Scheme. Some QUT programs include paid work experience that is directly relevant to your course and employment prospects:

  • The Corporate Partners in Excellence program for business students offers two semesters of full-time work experience with top companies and a three-year $28 500 scholarship.
  • The Cooperative Education Program for IT students provides a year-long industry placement. Students have worked with companies like Boeing, Dialog, RACQ and the Australian Tax Office.
  • The Industrial Internship Program for science students includes 10 to 12 months paid work experience with a chemical, biomedical, pharmaceutical or research organisation. Summer vacation research scholarships are also offered.
  • Before graduation engineering students complete a minimum 60 days industrial experience in the government or private sector, which may be paid or unpaid.
