Why QUT?

[Print-friendly version]

QUT has made as many offers as possible in the late June offer round. QUT will continue to accept and consider new applications and preference changes lodged with QTAC up until Monday, 7 July 2008.

OP Guarantee

The OP Guarantee will apply after the late June offer round. Visit Studyfinder to check if your course is covered by the OP Guarantee. Under the guarantee, offers are made to eligible applicants with an OP 1–5 or a QUT admission rank of 92 or better.

Additional vacancies

Applicants who can meet the early June cut-off are encouraged to register their preference with QTAC by Monday, 7 July 2008 for all courses, as this presents a good opportunity to secure a place at QUT.

Any new preference list should be structured to keep your options open:

  • Preferences 1 & 2: courses you still really want to do where there is even a slim chance there might be further offers around your OP or QUT admission Rank
  • Preferences 3 & 4: courses that are relevant to your study plans where you fully expect further offers will be made around your OP or QUT admission Rank
  • Preferences 5 & 6: courses you are prepared to do which may be in a different study area or institution where you are sure offers will be made to people with your OP or QUT admission Rank

Remember, if you have already received a QTAC offer for a course and you are prepared to study this course if ‘nothing better’ becomes available, we suggest you:

  • select a QTAC ‘conditional’ response option for your offered course. A conditional response will allow you to accept, reject or defer and still be considered for new higher preferences if further offers are made;
  • ensure that any preference placed higher than the offered course is a course you would prefer to do. You can only have one offer at a time and you will lose your first offer if made a new offer in July.

Further information

If you have further questions please do not hesitate to telephone QUT on 07 3138 2000 during business hours. We expect our lines to be busy so please be patient, or try again a little later if you have any difficulty getting through.
