Credit arrangements

Options for students considering an internal course transfer exist within the Bachelor of Information Technology (IT22), the Bachelor of Corporate Systems Management (IT06) and the Bachelor of Games and Interactive Entertainment (IT04).

Course HHS study IT equivalent
IT22 Up to 96cps from H&HS degree studies General Electives (8 units = 96 cps)
IT06 Up to 96cps from H&HS degree studies Complementary Studies (unit set/s totalling 96cps or 8 units (96cps) of elective units)
IT04 Up to 96cps from H&HS degree studies

General Electives (4 units = 48 cps)
Minor (4 units = 48 cps)

The Bachelor of Corporate Systems Management provides some interesting options for HH01 and HH04 students. Industry is increasingly seeking IT graduates who have IT skills and knowledge as well as strong analytical skills and a broad understanding of society, cultures and people.  Many IT graduates enter IT employment in organisations that use IT as a utility – to improve information utilisation, rather than entering into roles that require the manipulation of technologies.

For example, IT graduates working in finance or mining domains would benefit from having a background in international and global studies as would graduates entering work with government agencies or non-government organisations with a background in society and change or community studies.

IT06 does not require students to have a strong mathematical background nor does it require them to undertake detailed technical work (e.g. programming).  The degree focuses on understanding how technology and systems are used in the social context of organisations to support achievement of business objectives.

The Faculty of Information Technology will also consider applications for advanced standing in IT undergraduate courses on an individual case basis with a view to granting the maximum academic credit possible within approved University limits.
