Humanities subjects may be used for advanced standing in a degree in the Creative Industries Faculty. The following information provides some examples of the ways we will manage this transition.

Credit arrangements

Transferring from Humanities to B Creative Industries (Interdisciplinary)

Unit equivalences
HHS
CI
HHB116 KKB101 or KKB102 CI Core uni /Foundation Unit
HHB117 KKB101 or KKB102 CI Core unit/Foundation Unit
Structural equivalences

Multidisciplinary Professional Major (7 units=84 cps)

Humanities^ Sub-major I (6 units=72 cps) +1 elective (12 cps)*

Discipline Major

(6 units within a particular field of study)

Humanities^ Sub-major I (6 units)

Co-Major (6 units from outside the BA)

Humanities^ Sub-major I (6 units)

Minor (4 units) Humanities^ Minor I (4 units)
Incomplete minor or major Transfer to relevant minor or sub-major (as appropriate) within the CI degree and complete the subjects required at Carseldine.

For example, for those students who have completed a Multidisciplinary Professional Major in International and Global Studies, this major could now be counted as an ‘ International and Global Studies' Sub-major in the BCI (interdisciplinary), with an additional elective of credit. For the Discipline Major, the same applies except without the additional elective of academic credit. Likewise, a completed a co-major in Business will be a sub-major in Business within the BCI (interdisciplinary).

Transferring from Humanities to other B Creative Industries Study Areas

The above structural equivalences will also apply to any other BCI degree (Drama, Television, Media & Communication, Communication Design, Creative Writing, Journalism) as from 2008 all will include 10 electives , which may be broken down as follows:

Minor + 6 electives

Sub major + Minor

Minor 1 + Minor 2 + 2 electives

Therefore, in 2008 our BCI second year students should still have the following to achieve:

• 2 core units (or equivalent)
• 12 specified units (normally in the discipline)
• 10 electives at least 2 of which must be CI electives.

*this elective may be used as a CI Core/Foundation unit if the student has not passed either HHB116 and HHB117.
^The ‘humanities’ sub major or minor will be able to retain the same name as under the Bachelor of Arts, such as IGS, SCH, HER,CMY or AUS.
