Q-Step Year 10 Conference

A one day Year 10 event has been run annually at QUT since 1994. Through faculty workshops, study skill lectures and a university orientation, Year 10 students are provided with the opportunity to learn about university. Formally known as The Winter School, this event endeavours to encourage Year 10 students from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds to participate in the program. The students find out about the differences between school and university. Introduction to QUT courses are also addressed at a time when students have to make subject decisions which could affect their post-school opportunities.

Three Year 10 Conferences are being held in 2008 at both Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campuses. Contact Q-Step or your School Guidance Officer to register your interest or obtain more information.

Q-Step Year 11 Skills Development Day

Students are given the opportunity to develop library and research skills, basic assignment writing skills, and participate in a mock lecture and open tutorial exercise. The day is designed to give students from low income backgrounds the opportunity to develop the skills necessary for Year 12 and beyond.

The 2009 Year 11 Day will be held at Gardens Point campus. You can register your interest or obtain more information from the Q-Step office.

Q-Step Year 12 Faculty Day

Each year the Q-Step Program invites Year 12 students from nominated schools to attend a general information presentation. The day includes faculty seminars, student talks and campus tours.

For 2009 dates or if you would like Q-Step to come to your school, contact the Q-Step office.
