QUT has been recognised as an "Elite Athlete Friendly" University, by both the Australian Institute of Sport and the Australian Sports Commission. Assisted by the Student Guild Office, QUT offers an Elite Athlete Program for students who wish to pursue both academic and sporting futures. QUT recognises the demand on elite athletes through training and competition, and offers these students flexibility with admissions, enrolment, assessment and special consideration where possible. The Elite Athlete Program endeavours to provide student athletes with the same opportunity to excel in their studies as normal students. QUT works very closely with the staff of the Athlete Career Education (ACE) Program at the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) to support elite athletes. Many elite athletes have chosen to study at QUT due to the support that is available. QUT also supports a number of students who are members of professional or elite sports teams such as the Reds, Lions, Firebirds and the Bulls just to name a few. Admissions assistanceIf you are an elite athlete, sportsperson, manager, or coach and believe you have the ability and the motivation to complete a university course, you are encouraged to apply to QUT. A bonus of up to 3 OP bands or 6 Entry Ranks may be given to eligible undergraduate applicants. Postgraduate applicants are also encouraged to apply and may also be eligible for admission assistance.
