Application forms

The Application for Advanced Standing (AS form) is available in PDF.

When to submit your application

If you are applying for entry to QUT
You should apply as soon as you have the required documentation. You can submit an advanced standing application before you have been made an offer of a place in the course, but you must submit it before the on-time closing date (use the key dates search).

If you are already enrolled in a QUT course
and you become eligible to apply for advanced standing, you can still submit your application along with any necessary documentation. Make sure you submit your application before the on-time closing date (use the key dates search) for advanced standing applications in any teaching period in which the award of advanced standing might affect your enrolment in a particular course unit or units.

Late applications

  • Cannot be guaranteed an outcome before the commencement of the next teaching period or prior to final dates for altering enrolment (dates below), or financial penalties applicable to the teaching period.
  • Late applications for advanced standing submitted after the on-time closing date (above) up until the census date in any teaching period cannot be guaranteed an outcome before:
    • the final dates for altering enrolment (see dates below)
      or
    • financial penalties are applied for the teaching period (see below).
  • advanced standing applications received after the census date of the current teaching period will be processed but cannot be effective towards enrolment programs for that teaching period.
  • If you lodge a late advanced standing application you will be responsible for altering your enrolment program accordingly.

Final dates for altering your enrolment

If you are granted advanced standing and need to change your enrolment accordingly you should note the absolute final dates for altering your enrolment (use the key dates search).

REMEMBER: advanced standing forms submitted after the final dates for addition and substitution of units will not alter enrolment programs.

If you withdraw from units after the final withdrawal date in each teaching period you may incur financial penalties. Refer to financial penalties to determine the appropriate dates and penalties.

Documentation

Documentation required for the timely processing of your advanced standing application is listed on the Application for Advanced Standing form.

You are responsible for providing all relevant documentation, for example, an official transcript of results and copies of the course structure and outline or syllabus of all completed course units relevant to your application for advanced standing.

Before doing so, you should contact your course coordinator to determine which of your previous studies and other learning experiences are likely to be relevant. Undocumented applications for advanced standing will not be considered.

You should read and follow the instructions on the form and attach documentation securely to your application.

Other requirements

You may be required to attend an interview or undergo assessment set by the course coordinator.
